About The Experience
Cob Ovens have been used for thousands of years. They have been the hearth that brought people together to celebrate their harvests and connect with each other. Our intention is to share how to create your own unique Cob Oven to support connection and learn how to utilize the elements Mother Nature so generously offers us.
Cob is a mixture of clay, sand, water and fiber (straw, dried grass, etc) used to build structures like houses and wood fired cook stoves and ovens.
It's easily available, inexpensive, durable, fire resistant, and fun to work with.
By the end of the course, you'll be able to create your own wood fired cob oven.
Benefits of Cob Ovens:
Regenerative
-Made from natural materials; require little to no fossil fuels
-Reduce your carbon footprint; the materials are bio-degradable so they will return to the earth after many years of use.
-Reuse & Repurpose materials like glass bottles
-Reduce consumption by making use of materials that you already have access to instead of buying a wood burning stove for instance.
Community
-Encourages gathering of family, friends and neighbors. Sharing connection and co-creating delicious food
-Creativity you can cook a variety of dishes especially with a rocket stove design and metal surface. Potentially being able to bake, grill, roast and boil.
